In class, we talked about technology, which was very interesting. I wanted to write this blog about some of the topics that we had discussed.
One of them being, what would our ancestors think if they saw how we lived today? Well, what I think is that they would be pretty proud of how we are turning out. The reason I think this is because they had inventions back then too. Want to know the connection? Here it is, without inventions, we won't have inventions. Back in the day, they had an old phone that was probably the size of our computer now. As it evolves, it becomes more useful. Thus, what I believe is what they wanted.
I also think that we will never become reliable on technology. Technology makes life easier but no reliable. For example, I can't rely on my macbook to not die while I type this, poor example but I hope you understand.
In addition, I think that we will ALWAYS have a balance. Like I said in class, as much as I want to be GO TECHNOLOGY and YAY CELL PHONE some others may think different. "What about the animals? The wilderness? The OZONE!!!". With this balance, we will never be overpowered. We will always have the heads up on everything.
Side note, without technology there will be no way of living as long as we do now.
I personally will never say technology is a bad thing, nor will I ever go against it.
What do you think? Do you think technology will soon take over the world? Or will we always be ahead?

Balance is what it is all about. Sometimes I think we need to read books as cautionary tales, rather than as entertainment. Too often we forget that in fiction there are lessons to be learned. We do rely too much on technology as a society. (at least I believe so in the US) We think we can trust science and scientists to do the right thing, forgetting that they said Thalidomide was an ok drug to use when pregnant, or forgetting that eugenics was once considered an okay thing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think technology will overtake the world, in some ways I think it already has. In our country and some others at any rate. It's the balance that is important. Something I think we as human beings are losing touch with. We forget to treat the earth and it's creatures and habitat's with respect- we forget that there are things more important than say choosing which steak we want to grill tonight for dinner. I think we need to be mindful as thinking beings of how we impactt his planet we call home and keep the balance before we do, do too much damage and are made extinct.
Gosh I sound awfully pessimistic don't I>
Love the video!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to consider the "balance" you mention. I keep thinking about about how much trash we make, and if we'll ever really get to a balance. Do you think we'll ever get there?
