Star Trek

I would like to first say that I HATE Star Trek!! So Data, what is his role? I know that he saved the captain and then the captain went back to save him. I also know that the Borg's were trying to convert him to be like them? Right? I don't understand the point of him having partial skin of theirs on him and not his whole body... Really though, that whole situation confused me. Data began to have human feelings, how? The skin? What was her benefit of him having human feelings?
Also, the Borg's are extremely stupid. LEARN HOW TO FIGHT!! If they are able to adapt, they should be able to learn how to fight.
In addition to my little rant of confusion and anger, I noticed that the girls are never the fighters. They are always the backup. For example, when they were back on Earth. She didn't go in the space ship with the boys, she was left back. Why?! Then there was a part where she was drunk, left vulnerable. Also, Lily, whom seems really smart was never really in the battle. In the beginning she was the one hurt. Then she was the girl running away always screaming, etc. I could keep going on.
All the men seem to be extremely strong and in charge, the girls are always vulnerable.

  1. I love the comment you make about the Borg and agree. If they are programmed to adapt then why don't they fight more often. A lot of times they just look at the crew members walking by and will only attack if they are attacked first. If their minds are all connected, then why don't they know that the captain and his crew are a threat to them and they should fight them when the first see them? They seem very unintelligent to me at times and I wonder how they got to be as powerful as they are. I admit I don't watch the show so that may be something that gets explained further throughout the series. But regardless, it would have been nice to have more explaination of it in the movie.
As for Data, what I do know about him is that the emotion implant was put in him in an episode long before the movie. The Borg Queen is just using his emotions chip and desire to be more human to try to get him on her side. I think the benefit of the human skin was to make him feel even more human and to connect his emotions to a physical stimuli. When he and Picard were at Zefron's ship he couldn't get emotion from just touching the ship like Picard could. Perhaps the skin would give him that personal contact and make an emotional connection that way. Either way, it is confusing. :)
